03521 νηστεία, ας, ἡ 名詞
「禁食，禁絕食物」。

一、一般用法：指因缺乏而忍受饑餓。複數－指一再發生的狀況（參但9:3 ）。ἐν νηστείαις不食，林後6:5 。ἐν νηστείαις πολλάκις多次不得食，林後11:27 。

二、特指宗教禮儀中的禁食：

A. 指公眾禁食：用於贖罪日(יוֹם כִּפּוּר)，徒27:9 。

B. 指個人禁食：指摩西在山上（帶ταπείνωσις卑微，參詩35:13 ）。（帶προσευχή禱告；參但9:3 ）太17:21 可9:29 異版; 林前7:5 公認經文（帶δεήσεις祈求）路2:37 。προσεύχεσθαι μετὰ νηστειῶν禁食禱告，徒14:23 。νηστείαν νηστεύειν禁食（＝צוּם צוֹם 撒下12:16 王上20:9 ）。
