多半用作军事术语，新约中指：

一、「防营」。指以色列人之营帐：ἔξω τῆς παρεμβολῆς在营外（出29:14 。利4:12,21 10:4,5 等）来13:11 。来13:13 比照11节之ἔξω τῆς π.增加为ἐξερχώμεθα ἔξω τῆς π.出到营外，以此指证我们在这里没有常存的城，此节之ἔξω τῆς π.似乎指与一般属世之事物隔离。指耶路撒冷，来13:12 异版（取代πύλης）。ἡ παρεμβολὴ τῶν ἁγιων 圣徒的营，启20:9 ，其用法亦源自旧约。

二、指罗马驻耶路撒冷军队的「军营，大本营」，徒21:34,37 22:24 23:10,16,32 。亦指罗马的军营，解送保罗的兵士在此住宿，徒28:16 异版。

三、「军兵」，指战争之行列，「阵线」。（出14:19,20 士4:16 8:11 撒上14:16 ）来11:34 。*
